Duane L. Bliss biographical miscellany : TD, [undated].

Consists of a corrected typescript (12 leaves) by Bliss's daughter, Hope Bliss, entitled "The career of Duane L. Bliss, in Nevada," undated; typed endnotes (2 leaves), presumably for an article on Bliss written by Dr. George D. Lyman; and a carbon copy (3 leaves) of a typed, biographical sketch of Bliss, attributed to "Miss Helen Bruner, Sutro Branch." The typescript mentions Bliss's early career as a banker and partner in the Virginia City, Nevada branch of the Bank of California; describes his role in the formation of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad; discusses his companies, Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company, and Lake Tahoe Railway and Transportation Company; and narrates contested attempts by Stone and Webster Power Company to dig a canal from Lake Tahoe, between the Truckee River and Bliss's land holdings. Includes some description of the development of the Lake Tahoe region, particularly Glenbrook, Nev. Biographical sketch includes outline of other Bliss family members.
